Iceland

Iceland is the second largest island in Europe and one of the most active volcanic countries in the world. It lies just south of the Arctic Circle and its total area is 103.000 km2. The population is about 320.000. The land is still in the process of formation. It is the very diversity of landscape and natural phenomena, the clean but cool air and the quiet beauty and fascinating works of art, created by nature itself, which are Iceland’s greatest attractions.

Owing the Gulf Stream the Icelandic Climate is mild, in spite of its global position. The average temperature for January, the coldest month, is 0 degrees Celsius (30 degrees Fahrenheit). The summers  are fairly cool with lowland temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius (54-60 degrees Fahrenheit). The climate is considerably cooler higher up in the mountains.

Iceland is on top of the world. But if you look into it, you will find that we are not so far away. It takes 3 hours from London, Copenhagen, and Stockholm to reach Iceland and less than 4 hours from mainland Europe. This tells us that we consume less fuel on the flight to reach Iceland. This makes Iceland environmentally friendly and a very good destination.
